Meet the Music Teachers

 

Kay Charlton - Music Manager and trumpet tutor
Kay is a trumpet player, composer and educator who teaches in schools as well as delivering teacher CPD/training for teachers and Music Hubs. She specialises in teaching large instrumental groups and has had educational music published by Warwick Music, Spartan Press and for Trinity piano exams. Kay is currently taking a Masters at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. She performs with Bollywood Brass Band who have released 5 CDs while performing in the UK, Europe and India.

Alex Chadwick – woodwind
Alex is a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, having completed the Jazz Saxophone Performance course. In addition to teaching, Alex freelances across the UK and internationally as both a soloist and band member in an eclectic mix of styles.

 

Kenny Barry – guitar
Kenny is a full time musician/music teacher. His experience ranges from teaching young children to adults and he particularly enjoys teaching guitar to beginners.

 

Paul Zimmerman – drums

After teenage years as a self-taught bedroom guitarist, Paul became involved in the African and Brazilian percussion scene performing with dance groups and bands before specialising in the drum kit, regularly appearing on the London jazz and afro funk circuit

 

Claire Pearcy – piano

Claire has been playing the piano since just 4 years old. She joined Trinity College of Music Junior Department at the age of 9 and continued her musical education achieving a Diploma in Musical Performance with the piano and Grade 8 clarinet.

Claire has been teaching the piano privately and as a peripatetic teacher in schools for many years.  Her varied teaching experience includes working with children with learning difficulties, teaching adults, workshop leading and working in a variety of early years settings.  Claire also runs the popular early years music classes Boppin' Bunnies, in Eltham and North Kent.

As well as teaching music, Claire regularly performs at a variety of music festivals. She has had the pleasure of performing at some prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, St Martin in the Fields and the Wigmore Hall.

Clare Williams – Singing specialist

Claire holds a BA Music(Hons) with a first study in vocal performance. Since her graduation she has cultivated a wide variety of teaching experience working in primary and secondary schools around London and Kent teaching singing, music and performing arts. Claire also works with SEN children helping them to enjoy and explore music making. She is proud to have a talented group of one to one students and she works toward preparing them for exams and performances. Outside of teaching Claire performs and records regularly in several Bands including the award winning Orbi Playa Big Band and is a co-founder of Sandfyre music entertainment.
