As far back as May 2025, we applied for a grant to increase capacity within our buildings for our Breakfast and After School Clubs and to create a spectacular new reading space for your children. The 'old toilet block' in the Middle Playground, near the running track, has been disused for over 20 years. With the help of a grant from the Royal Borough of Greenwich, and a huge amount of hard work from Plumcroft Staff, contractors and Jo Chandler from our partnership with ABC Book Club, we are proud to present our Rainforest Reading Room; a unique space to relax, enjoy books and learn with friends.  The Rainforest Reading Room was opened on 13th January 2026 by The Mayor of Greenwich - Councillor Linda Bird, local councillors, Borough representatives and Mary McAteer, a player with Charlton Women's team. Sixteen children from KS2 were chosen to be part of the opening ceremony; our House Captains and Wellbeing Ambassadors from Year 6, and Reading Heroes from Years 3, 4 and 5. Class teachers are exploring the room with their classes in the coming days. We will offer you all the chance to see the room in the coming weeks. We are always pleased to receive donations of pre-loved books to keep the room stocked, so if you have any in good condition after your early spring cleaning, please bring them to the main office.   I hope that you enjoy the transformation!
